A small group of students enjoyed an exciting introductory visit to The Countryside Kitchen, taking part in the immersive Grow, Cook, Eat, Discover workshops.
From the moment we arrived, Milly and the Countryside Kitchen team made us feel incredibly welcome. Students were given a guided tour of the farm, where they met the goats, cows and chickens and learned about the important role each animal plays in food production.
One of the highlights of the visit was discovering more about the different products that come from various parts of a cow. Students were fascinated by the practical, hands-on learning and asked lots of thoughtful questions throughout the session.
The team also led a fun “What’s in the Box?” sensory challenge, encouraging students to use their senses to explore a range of mystery items. This was followed by a seed-planting activity, where everyone had the opportunity to plant their own seeds and learn about the growing process.
Before leaving, students visited the classroom where they will be learning during future sessions, giving them a chance to see the exciting environment that will support their upcoming workshops.
“A huge thank you to Milly and the entire Countryside Kitchen team for such an enjoyable and informative first visit. Our students left feeling inspired, excited and eager to return for the next stage of their Grow, Cook, Eat, Discover journey.”
