Our Online Safety Curriculum

Online safety is taught explicitly through our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum and reinforced across the wider curriculum. Our approach is based on national guidance, including:

  • The DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ statutory guidance
  • The UK Safer Internet Centre’s ‘Education for a Connected World’ framework
  • The PSHE Association SEND Framework

Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Lessons help students understand how to communicate safely online, manage risks, know what to do if they feel worried or uncomfortable, and build positive digital habits for life.

Role of the Digital Lead

As the school’s Digital Lead, Siobhan's role is to oversee our online safety strategy and curriculum. This includes:

  • Embedding online safety education across all key stages through our Online Safety Curriculum, ensuring that students learn about topics such as privacy, cyberbullying, digital footprints, gaming, social media, and recognising unsafe online behaviour.
  • Supporting staff to confidently teach and model safe online behaviours.
  • Delivering training to staff on key online safety issues including our annual CEOP training.
  • Working closely with the safeguarding team to respond to any online safety concerns or incidents.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest guidance, risks, and opportunities linked to online life for children and young people.
  • Delivering workshops for parents and communicating key information on online safety to parents including by sharing the Wake Up Wednesday newsletter where appropriate.
